Why Xisti?
Xisti (pronounced zis-tee) is derived from
the Greek xystus, defined as:
Among the ancient Greeks, a long covered
portico or court used for athletic exercises; among the ancient Romans,
an open colonnade, or walk planted with trees, used for recreation and
conversation; hence occas. allusively.
The name represents what we hope this site will
be and do. Which brings us to our purpose for creating Xisti.com …
The Xisti dream began with a group of people who
met and became friends via an Internet community. As time passed, the
circle of friends grew larger. It includes men and women of all ages from
all around the world. As we got to know each other, we discovered many
shared interests and ideals.
The most important of these is the belief that through
communicating our hopes, dreams, fears, interest and beliefs, we form
a connection that raises the consciousness of all. We hope to create a
bond that transcends ages, genders and nationalities; one that inspires
us to grow and to reach out to invite others into our community. We believe
that collectively we can make a difference. We can be a force for improvement
in the human condition and for restoration of our planet
Many people see the condition of our planet and
its people and look to governments to provide the solution. We believe
the solution can only come when each individual is conscious of those
conditions and willing to contribute to a solution. And we believe that
people can be a force for change and improvement. We want Xisti.com to
be a forum to focus those people who want to begin and be part of that
force.
